Masters 2020
In case you missed our Masters Expo 2020: a selection from a total of 52 videos about their projects that our masters projected in the exhibition space.
Thesis Prize 2020
Nanna Reseke, one of our recently graduated masters, was awarded with the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Thesis Prize. Congratulations! — If you ever wandered about wondering how the first ever straight line was made, or what graphic design might have to do with a grass farmer from Virginia, or what a computer has to do with a carrier bag, or how Donald E. Knuth and his wife go about designing their kitchen recipes, or what Simone Weil said about attention, or Lorraine Wild about tacit knowledge, or how to begin transforming set knowledge while navigating a world so excessively rich in information, you will have to get your hands on a copy of her master thesis that concerns these topics, entitled Everything Is Interesting and Anything Is Possible.
Start-Up 2020 2021
CODE YELLOW — September 21 is the start of a brand new academic year and we are happy to welcome our students in the flesh! Keep distance, wear a mouth mask (only if there is enough distance and you sit down you can take it off), disinfect and ventilate. [Still from ‘Lemon’ directed by Hollis Frampton (1969).]

Essaying Essays
Read through our Essaying Essays magazine: written, edited and compiled by all of our Master students, and designed by Sari Vandersmissen, in which they outline a framework for their master projects.
A Journey Around My Room (Tactics of Confinement)
Watch videos made by our 2BA students for the assignment A Journey Around My Room (Tactics of Confinement) on Vimeo. The students first scripted texts based on their own personal space and thoughts, for then exchanging these with each other. They ended up translating each other’s work into short three-minute films, where each student (literally) comes to inhabit his/her peers’ spaces and thoughts. [To order the videos correctly: select ‘Date modified’ and choose arrow up (↑).] On Thursday 4 June at 16:00 the work was presented through a public Zoom Meeting.

100 Details
During our project week Second House, we worked on 001 exhibition that presents our programme in 100 Details (title of the show). Starting from 001 list of 100 items that represents the recent history of our programme, 023 students multiplied this into 004 lists, 001 audio recording, 008 projectors together creating 001 large projection, 2k4 minutes of film, 010 light boxes and 100 different handouts printed on 1k4 sheets of paper normally worn by runners. However, during its setup, the exhibition was already closed (corona). No exhibition, no public. The handouts are to be bound in 014 catalogues. Explore some numbered efforts on this page, and discover our programme in its details.
Doubt
In our absence, this labelled flag by Ines Cox is flagging the façade of our closed Graphic Design campus. A quote from the label Ines made for it: ‘[…] the snail spew so hard that it flew out of its own house.’
[Corona]
In light of the Corona virus, our campus is currently closed, while our design studios have gone fully digital. Take good care of yourself and your close ones.
